One of our most-requested cat styles. A lion cut clips the body short while leaving the mane, tail tip, and paws, and it's a favourite for long-haired cats who mat easily or overheat in summer. Vets often suggest one for cats who can't keep up with their own coat.

If your cat is shedding like crazy, especially once the weather warms up, a de-shedding groom clears out the loose undercoat that ends up on your furniture and in hairballs. Your cat feels lighter and cooler, and you sweep up a lot less.

It's one of our busiest summer services. A regular de-shed through the warm months keeps the coat healthier and cuts down on the matting that follows heavy shedding.

Long-haired cats can have a hard time keeping the back end clean, and litter or waste that gets stuck as the hair grows out is uncomfortable and unhygienic. A sanitary cut keeps the area around the tail and hind legs trimmed short and tidy.

It's a quick, low-stress trim that makes a real difference day to day, and it pairs well with a de-shed or a full tidy.

Cats don't hide how they feel about grooming. Some get anxious, some get reactive, biting, clawing, and panicking when they've had enough. We go at the cat's pace, keep the space calm, and stop before things tip over rather than push through.

If your cat has anxiety and your vet has recommended a mild sedative for grooming day, we're glad to work with medicated cats. Just tell us when you book so we can plan the timing around it and keep the visit as smooth as possible.

Lots of cat owners tell us "I know nothing about cat grooming," and that's completely fine. Cats aren't groomed as routinely as dogs, so a first visit is new for most people.

Here's the short version of how it works:

• Bring your cat in a carrier. It keeps them (and everyone else) calm from car to salon.
• Tell us what you're after: a de-mat, a sanitary trim, a de-shed, or a full lion cut. Not sure? Describe the problem and we'll recommend the right service.
• We work at your cat's pace and won't force a stressed cat through it. Some cats do the whole groom happily; others do best in shorter sessions.
• Mention any health issues, sensitivities, or vet-recommended medication ahead of time.
